The dudes had 2 of them fighting... is that standard?
Either way, I'm thinking making them resistant to bludg/pierce and let slashing be full like a Treant oh wait... the front line guys all do slashing anyway. Well there goes that.
Might make it... the opposite of a Treant b/c it's evil! Resistant to SLASHING (incl. magical).
Oh but.. the RADIANT sword. Haha, oh yeah.
Gonna have to make a new monster RESISTANT TO SLASHING AND RADIANT! Could this silly Tree Blight be the one?!?! I dunno let's think on it.
MY vision is:
A fight were the melee guys need to just deal with the mooks. And the casters deal with the main boss. Just saying, it's a roll reversal kinda sorta.
UPDATE OUR CAMPAIGN BATTLE RESULTS:
Made two Tree Blights appear same time (although one never got a hit in, went North for Winery area, long story) and 2 wood woads (they were dangerous b/c had top initiative and avoided the Spike Growth). Had about 8 twig blights, 2 needle and 2 vine blights appear. 3 evil.druids popped up from dirt "inside" the boulder circle and 3 e.druids popped up outside (near the Party). The Spike Growth was huge, slowed down everything... but the humans and eventually treeblight#2 climbed over rocks and never got the 10% to be hit for mega mega lightning damage (area just has constant lightning). Treeblight#1 got hurt BAD by the spike growth though, it decided to try to walk through the edge of it, but so huge, took like 56 dmg or something insane (still woulda been 44 dmg but we had some extra dmg testing out with the RedFungusSickle +2 all the time, and one time +D4 or +D6 or D8 depending on spell, after that crazy dmg decided it'd just be on first hit of spike growth later).
Whoops, it was way too hard b/c the kid spread out a lot (only one druid had lightning bolt, I did that, but it confused him he told me later, thought all 6 evil druids had lightning bolt). So after spreading out a lot, he also picked "bonus action to float up the levitating shield" instead of RAGE on Barbarian. The Barb went down super fast, took to much dmg that first round without Rage.
Also, midway through, the e.druids came in and did Thunderwave upcast. That spell is somebody at WotC's pet, b/c it is so much better than anything else around that level. And I rolled too well, upcast for 3d8, got a 7+8+8 on one upcast roll, ouch. And that 15 foot CUBE is so easy to hit everything with... especially when you have 6 e.druids, it's likely 2 or 3 of them will be in perfect casting spots, I know I must have gotten 3 or 4 good blasts that hit 3 char.s more often than not due to when he called his druid animal spell. Plus the kid didn't target the e.druids down.
-one lightning bolt from the one "slightly harder" evil druid hit two of his main guys, worried him.
-thunderwave craziness, just rolled great and his positioning.
-the evil berserkers had 67 HP (CR 2), and they were just hard as heck to take down. PLUS I kept rolling 12 on the d12 and critted a couple of times, ouch.
-the hurt treeblight#1 has 4 attacks, ouch. He hits hard, too. Grappled somebody, the fighter I think, and it was not good.
-barb went down before he could kill + heal from the new blood spear
So after all that craziness, had 2 wood woads, all the e.druids, most of the berserkers, 1 tree blight left. Like everything felt like it was left, OMG. How's this gonna work. Good news, he took to the air with druid as a Quetzalcoatlus and has the awesome flyby (no AOO) so pretty darn safe. Warlock also in the air, infinite Eldritch Blasts is nice. So the tree blight and 1 remaining wood woad decided to walk north (their whole reason for being there was to attack winery, so made sense they wouldn't just sit still and take DPS from air). The humans were left running around, trying to figure out what to do.
Good guys got revived and healed up just enough. Evil druids had been backing up, backing up... told berserkers to defend them. They also didn't have answer to over 30 ft sky attacks. Finally they ran off, the kid was mad and chased almost every one down (2 got away).
Phew.
NEXT NIGHT, he found the TreeBlight#2 and Woad... destroyed them without a scratch (and he needed an easier fight after that harrowing one).
