Ookla the Mok, inspired by Japanese Namahage?

Namahage (nah mah hah geh) are monstrous ogre-like beings from northern Japan folklore. Similar to an oni in a way, but with straw manes and body coverings… they are good guys, not beasts like Oni. They punish those who don’t pull their weight, help dispell bad luck, and bring bounty/ensure a good harvest of crops. The hage part of the name means hair, right? Nana is nose, nanage is nose hair. Mune is chest… Munage 胸毛 is chest hair. …. And I am wrong cuz the kanji is 生剥げ for namahage  Oh well, I try.

Ookla is also a big hulking monster with a yellow mane and a furry body… with a scary face. Of course Ookla is cat-like in opposition to Chewbacca’s doglike nose and demeanor. It is no secret Ookla is mostly styled after Chewie, but I always like Ookla’s look more. They say Chewie was based on Lucas’s pooch, Indiana.. https://www.thewildest.com/dog-lifestyle/chewbacca-dog

Speaking of Star Wars and Thundarr, the Sunsword was their version of a light saber... everybody knows that I'm sure. When I was a kid, it didn't matter one bit, just as unique and cool to us back then.

He's a big dude

It's interesting that they basically "reuse" oni masks.

You know this kid thinks he's going to be eaten, right? I've witnessed a baby being swung into and out of a festival dragon's mouth over and over in southern Japan. No, the baby didn't like it much either, but it was only for a few long moments then it was on to the next kid for the luck blessing.

I'd love to see this in real life. The variety is always cool to see. As long as they don't play any "no okra gumbo" type stuff... I mean come on Houma, you can't have real gumbo without okra. AKA, my gumbo is about 1000 times better than the oyster piss I've had in certain places, not saying where or anything. Back to Japan business... yeah, I'd like to see these Namahage costumes. Betting $20 that every one has straw like it's supposed to. Sheesh.
