Homage or ripoff? And why, for the word "homage", do we sometimes pronounce it "OH'-moj", but the dictionaries all say "ah-məj"? I've heard both pronunciations and said both. Am I crazy? Is it the southern US thing were random words are turned into a long vowel + other syllable pronunciation?
For example... the funny (POH'-lees) instead of (pə-:LEES')?
Time to start a new post all about pronunciation and grammar stuff. I need to research these things.
