Words - Forest etymology

 Forest   https://www.youtube.com/shorts/e2K_IV5slIk

  • Forestis, Latin but.. that came from
  • Furhisti, Frankish a Germanic

Cognates in English like

  • Fur- like a fir tree.
  • -histi like  hurst, means grove.

  • Example Pinehurst (dude’s town in comments) = Pine Grove

By the way, this is fun... in Japanese:

  • Tree =木, and  forest (森), forest; woodland (森林)
  • I think in Chinese, it's similar, but two trees next to each other,  = a smaller forest (a grove?).

BTW 2, Celtic runes and trees have an interesting tie in... they were sacred or something, right? https://www.talkingforestrunes.com/about-the-runes/
  • Ogham Runes for Birch, Alder, Willow, etc.
