Next time, giant boulders, wooly rhino(?)

If u r at bottom of large hill… one giant boulder sitting there… and 5 similar ly large boulders suddenly start rolling down… what would you do (if lower level)?

Hide behind first boulder? Get on top of it? One boulder rolling dwn would direct hit and crack or shatter itself and the stationary one.  How much dmg?

  • Try to run to side… itll be close.
  • Blast the rolling ones?
  • Dig a magical hole?

****COULD IT BE... kid stumbles upon an ARMY halfway to eveil druid area b/c they are massing for a more gungho attack on something(vineyard? Strahd?)... of the elemental skeletons, berserkers, couple of TreeBLights, Woodwoads. ?

  1. HIT AND RUN? Let HIM KNOW cant fight head on.
  2. Just bypass completely? Leads offtrail, more wooded. Wooly rhino areas???
  3. More giant boulders that could rain down on ENEMY after happens to him, if planned out correctly? Maybe even bad guys have more traps like that set up, but he gets the jump on them and takes over the traps.

DMG 1e has interesting monster tables. So many more "normal animals", of giant or wooly types. More of a Conan ancient land feel. I like it. Perhaps use near evil.druids and berserkers.

Examples:

  • Cavemen
  • Wooly Rino
  • Sabre-tooth tiger
  • Lion, spotted
  • Mammoth and Mastodons
  • Flightless bird
  • Axebeak
