Street Fighter 2 - Dictator Bison-Vega was Chinese, says 1992ish UK Nintendo Magazine

I wonder. His old portrait does look East Asian, so maybe he was Chinese, then they took that out b/c they didn't want to offend the China audience.

SF2 Portraits - Street Fighter 2 World Warrior

The old ones were just too hilarious. Side note, interesting how Bison had pupils back then.

SFV Combined Tier List and Alex info, +10 (on Block????) meaty lariat?!

https://www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/comments/hu5kdw/aggregate_data_tier_list_combined_from_14_high/

Alex info:
Lariat is better than most normals/command normals in the game. It's 11 frame start up, so not amazing for a heavy and it'll whiff on crouchers if they're far away and that's about it for it's downsides, for its positive it's plus 3 on block, plus 8 on hit, has little push back, is cancelable, hit box is high enough to anti air, forces stand on hit, and can crush counter, give Bison this move and he'd be unbelievably scary. Alex is just kinda weak all around though, so him having lariat basically moves him up a tier

Don't forget that it's +10 [onHit surely right? No he says in a BLOCK STRING and st.HP is 9 frame startup] on a last frame meaty allowing you to use st.hp in a block string and for an easy confirm into hp.Chop xx Backdrop.

He doesn't get much Oki from command throws and has the most negative disadvantage after a command throw dash compared to other grapplers like Mika, Gief, Laura, Necalli...

V Skill 2 could've been better had they removed the debuff after getting hit.
VTs are ok but nothing special.. Still requires hard reads to be effective. Compare that to the top tier character like Guile, Akuma, Urien etc who have -2 specials and can surprise you with an invincible.

He's not trash, he's just worse than most of the other characters. I think he's probably tied with the bottom 4 or so, but that group is much closer to the middle of the pack than it was a year or two ago. He's totally playable, but his design requires him to take lots of risks to get wins and risky characters will never be high tier tournament monsters.

SFV Frames to Milliseconds vs. Reaction Time

Via: https://www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/comments/aars1j/how_much_milliseconds_does_the_3f_link_translates/

How much milliseconds does the 3F link translates to in SFV?
3/60 = 50 milliseconds. There's a 1000 milliseconds in a second

So 12 frames is 200 ms. If you RECOGNIZE and EXPECT something perfectly, you can hit a button exactly around that time. The recognition is the hard part in a messy modern fighter. 250 ms = 15 frames, which I think is the absolute fastest dash right?

So that means, those quick 16 frame dashes (most fast dashes) can be reacted to by a simple button, if you recognize it. At least, on the:
https://humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime I can get 200ms pretty consistently, and once in a while less than that (and strangely for the longer delay I have a worse reaction time it seems ... get bored or something... got like 240ish once at worst).

BTW, these HiFight things are awesome, with the SFV round breakdown with frame data and what they players are thinking or reading or trying:

Some other SFV Street Fighter V Blogs and important links

Important links via Reddit and that Zangief's Gym:

Having trouble finding active blogs:

Street Fighter V - vs. ALEX, Which characters are plus or really unsafe after blocked moves

So this is useful info ... basically when X character attacks and you block a move, you need to know if they get to keep attacking (they are PLUS on block) or if it is something you should punish (they are 3 or 4 or more negative and close enough to you).

Alex    +3    After you block the towards+HP "lariat" up hitting clothesline thing, he is +3.
Alex    +2    On block of d,u+KK air stampede (stomp) EX version.

Alex    +2    oBlock of st.LP, st.MP, or cr.LP

Alex    -5    On block of regular d,u+K air stampede (stomp).
Alex    -2,-6,-7,-17 for oBlock LK Slash Elbow, MK, HK, EX
Alex    -4,-4,-6,-2  for oBlock  LP, MP, HP, EX Flash Chop

Alex    -8    oBlk of CHOP (Twrds+MP)

Alex    -3    st.HP
Alex    -4    st.HK
Alex    -8    cr.HP
Alex    -3    cr.MK
Alex    -12    cr.HK

Star Wars Dewbacks are awesome (the originals)

More of the semi-mammalian reptiles, like the Tauntaun. In that recent documentary with the Empire Strikes Back art guy that made the Tauntaun, he reminded us how it is sort of camel-like in the face. He was a big dinosaur nut as a kid (good). Phil Tippett. Joe Johnston has awesome art for Star Wars, also.

Note the mammalian hair on the top of the Dewback's neck.

Check the claws and especially the feet... really it's easy to miss that they are half reptile & half mammal (or whatever percent).

Star Wars episode 9, The Rise of Skywalker

Enjoyed it! I liked that Abrams undid some of the silly stuff from episode 8. Fun movie. Thanks for giving back Kylo's helmet, very important to me at least. =] Liked that the lightsaber was once again revered. Liked that Luke basically said "nevermind that weird stuff I said in the last movie".

And these masks look very cool:

That old demon devil movie is "Curse of the Demon" or "Night of the Demon"

Surely this was an influence on some of the D&D demons in the old books. Good stuff!

It was an Easter Egg in that Ghostrider movie with Nick Cage... near beginning of movie on the TV on the bus(?) after Nick Cage survived a jump as an adult which broke the plastic front of his helmet.

Thanks to http://1001plus.blogspot.com/2016/03/off-script-night-of-demon.html for the first picture:

Cold days in us history

https://www.history.com/news/coldest-day-temperatures-in-us-history

Super cold huh? February 1899.  quote:

On February 11, residents of Fort Logan, Montana, awoke to a temperature of -61 degrees. Wind chills in southern Texas were estimated at -25 to -40 degrees, downright balmy compared to the wind chills approaching -100 degrees on the northern Plains. Between February 11 and February 14, the Great Arctic Outbreak set record low temperatures that still stand in Grand Rapids (-24 degrees), Wichita (-22 degrees), Oklahoma City (-17 degrees), Atlanta (-9 degrees), Fort Worth (-8 degrees) and Baton Rouge (2 degrees).
Even in Florida there was no vacation from the cold. The temperature in Tallahassee fell to an all-time state record of -2 degrees on February 13 as nearly two inches of snow fell from the Panhandle to Jacksonville. Tampa received the first measurable snowfall recorded in the city’s history and trace amounts fell further down the Gulf Coast. Even in tropical Miami, the mercury dipped below freezing as desperate farmers set fires among their orange groves and wrapped their trees for protection from the cold.
